Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

Pag dumating ang Panginoon bilang hukom, meron siyang bibigyan ng mga parangal o karangalan para sa mga naglingkod. Kailangan mo lang pagtrabahuhan yan at kailangang alamin na merong crown, merong glory at merong reward na naghihintay sa mga anak ng Dios.

Ano ba ang ibig sabihin ng “to long for God’s appearing”? If you long for God’s appearing, gusto mo pag dumating ang Panginoon, you are caught in the act of serving him. Hindi puedeng

“O, ano ang ginagawa mo?”

“Hinihintay ko ang pagbabalik ni Kristo.”

“E bakit ka nakatunganga?”

“E kasi nga, hinihintay ko ang pagbabalik nya.”

Ang tunay na naghihintay sa pagbabalik ng Panginoon is busy doing his work kasi binibigyan tayo ng panahon. Merong deadline na darating na siya. Tapos na ang pag-commission sa atin. Kaya kailangan, puspusan tayong naglilingkod.

Bihira sa mga kapatiran ang nagtatanungang, “O kumusta na, marami ka na bang crown sa heaven?” Minsan ang pinag-uusapan,

“O, magkano na ang savings mo?”

“Sa heaven? “

“Hindi, sa PNB. Ilan ang naipundar mong lupa? Ilan ang sasakyan mo? Gaano karami na ang alahas mo? Ilan na ang degree mo?”

Hindi masama yan, maganda yan. Pero kung yan lang ang kayamanan natin at wala doon sa kabila, ay talagang walang-wala tayo.

Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Mga magulang, ano bang itinuturo nyo sa mga anak nyo? Ang nakaka-impress? Papano i-spell ang Czechoslovakia, ang Mississippi? Mag-pronounce ng mga ‘f’ at mga long ‘a’? Mag-excel? O maging mabuting tao? Kung minsan, sa kagustuhan nating mag-excel ang mga bata at maging number one, tinuturuan pa nating mandaya. Tayo na ang gumagawa ng homework at ng project para mataas ang grade. Tumaas nga ang grade pero bumaba ang pagkatao. Lumayo sa pagiging maka-Dios.

What is the purpose of education anyway? It is not to accumulate knowledge and facts but to have good character. Character ang pinakamahalaga sa lahat! Kahit ang dunung-dunong nya kung wala namang uri ang puso nya at mababa ang pagkatao, e di magiging halimaw lang yan. Hindi ba’t kung mas dumudunong ka at mas makapangyarihan pero wala namang kwenta ang iyong pagkatao, mas lalo kang nagiging sagabal sa lipunan?

Kaya dapat pinalalaki ang mga bata sa Sunday school at Bible study. At dapat patuloy na ini-improve ang mga Sunday schools. Pinakamahalaga ang first seven years. Kung anong ituro mo dyan hindi na mawawala sa kanya buong buhay. Tingnan nyo ang Pilipino. Kung first seven or ten years na lumaki sa Tagudin, Ilocos, kahit na tatlumpung taon nang nakatira sa New York, dinengdeng pa rin ang gustong kainin! Pag lumaki sa Pampanga yan kahit limampung taon nang nakatira sa Alaska, naghahanap pa rin ng burong talangka.

Kung anong gusto nyong maging buhay nya, ituro nyo habang bata pa para hindi na nya malilimutan kahit kailan.

Proverbs 11:30

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.                                          

Soul-winning does not necessarily relate only to evangelistic activities. The soul is the center or core of a person’s being. So winning souls can also mean winning hearts and minds. Ang marunong na tao, sinisikap nya na makuha ang loob ng kanyang kapwa – magkapalagayan, magkahulugan, magkaisa ng loob.

Sa ating kilos at salita, we either win or lose people. We either endear or alienate ourselves to others. We either win admiration or garner contempt. We either open or close people’s hearts. So, kailangan nire-review natin ang ating pakikitungo sa tao. Nakikipagmabutihan lang ba tayo para gamitin ang kapwa tao? Pagka tayo ba ay nakikisalamuha sa iba, ang ending ba ay nakakaaway natin sila o nagiging kaibigan? Napalapit ba tayo o lalong napalayo?

Life is a matter of helping, of receiving help and of giving it. Walang taong nagkaroon ng malaking tagumpay na siya lang mag-isa ang may gawa. Lagi nating kailangan ng tulong ng iba para merong mangyari sa buhay natin. At ito ang katotohanan – ang tinutulungan natin ay yung taong gusto natin. So hindi ba naman napakabuting hangarin na magustuhan tayo ng ating kapwa?

Hindi natin puedeng ipagmalaki that we are brutally frank, na tuwing darating ka na lang ino-oppress mo ang lahat ng tao dahil sobra kang coercive, oppressive at control freak. Gusto mong ikaw na lang lagi ang amo. Walang makakagusto sayo at iiwasan ka.

Mark 12:43-44

“I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

May isang mahirap na babaeng balo na ang pagkakonti-konting pera which meant everything to her ay ibinigay pa sa templo. Akala nyo ba pinigil ng Panginoon? Sinabi ba nyang “Huwag na, kawawa ka naman. Huwag ka nang magbigay kasi mahirap ka naman. Be practical, ang liit-liit na bagay naman. Balewala rin yan. Maliit na halaga. Hayaan mo na lang yung mayayaman ang magbigay”? Hindi! Sabi ng Lord, “Yang babaeng yan ang pinakamalaki ang ibinigay.”

Pag nagbibigay pala tayo, ang binibilang ng Panginoon ay hindi yung amount na ibinigay kundi yung amount na natira pagkatapos na magbigay. Sabi nya, “Sa kanya walang natira, she gave the most!” Ang nakaka-impress pala sa kanya ay kung magkano yung natira at hindi yung kung magkano ang ibinigay mo lang. Nagbigay ka nga ng marami, pero ang dami-dami-dami pa naman palang naiwan sayo, hindi nakaka-impress yon.

Punung-puno ng teachings on offerings ang Bible dahil pagkilala yun na sa Panginoon nanggagaling ang lahat ng mabubuting bagay. Kaya hindi tayo nagkakait na ibalik sa kanya ang mga portions na yun. Kinikilala natin na tayo ay nagkakaroon at may tinatamasa only because of God’s grace.

Psalm 139:24

See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.                 

Do not needlessly offend others. Why? Because one offense can be taken seriously and the offended person may never forget it. He will strengthen himself and wait for his chance to get even with you kahit na siya pa ay isang taong maliit at hamak. Hindi mo alam kung magiging makapangyarihan, marunong o malakas siya.

Huwag mang-aapi lalo na ng mga bata. One thing for sure, habang patanda kayo nang patanda at pahina nang pahina, palakas naman nang palakas yung bata. Pag mga alas-kwatro, alas-singko na kayo ng buhay nyo, siya naman ay alas-onse, alas-dose. Ano ang magagawa nyo sa kanya kung paghigantihan kayo? Malay nyo, baka kakailanganin nyo ang tulong nya later on. Do not offend the weak because even weakness is not a permanent status.

People help those that they like and people do not help the offensive. But there are people who enjoy being brutally frank. Gustung-gusto nila na kapag nagsasalita sila, meron silang itinatama at ipinahihiya. Mahilig silang magmagaling at magpasikat. They will never win a friend. Ang masaklap, kailangan natin ang mga kaibigan sa paligid who will help us succeed.

Nakakapagtaka na may mga tao talagang natutuwa kapag may nababara sila o nakakantiyawan, kung nakakasakit ng damdamin at nakakapamintas. Why can we not hold our peace? If we cannot say something that can make people feel good, shut up.
